Templates
Templates save you from rewriting the same invoice or contract from scratch every time. Create a template once, and use it whenever you need a new document. Templates are a Plus+ feature.
Template Types
Seleckt supports two types of templates:
| Type | What It Saves | Used When Creating |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice Template | Line items, descriptions, amounts, tax settings | A new invoice |
| Contract Template | Full contract text with formatting | A new contract |
Each type is designed to pre-fill the right fields so you can get a document out the door in seconds instead of minutes.
Creating a Template from Scratch
- Go to Templates in the sidebar and click New Template.
- Choose the template type: Invoice or Contract.
- Give your template a descriptive name (for example, "Standard Wedding Package" or "Portrait Session Agreement").
- Fill in the content:
- For invoice templates, add your typical line items, descriptions, quantities, and prices.
- For contract templates, write your terms using the rich text editor (supports bold, italic, headings, lists, and alignment).
- Click Save.
Tip: Name your templates clearly so you can tell them apart at a glance. Something like "Mini Session Invoice" is much more helpful than "Template 1".
Saving an Existing Document as a Template
Already have an invoice or contract you are happy with? You can turn it into a reusable template:
- Open the invoice or contract you want to save as a template.
- Click Save as Template.
- Give the template a name and confirm.
The new template appears in your template list, ready to use next time.
Using a Template
When Creating an Invoice
- Go to Invoices and click New Invoice.
- Click Use Template and select an invoice template.
- The line items, descriptions, and amounts are filled in automatically.
- Adjust anything you need for this specific client (quantities, prices, due date).
- Finish and send as normal.
When Creating a Contract
- Go to Contracts and click New Contract.
- Click Use Template and select a contract template.
- The contract text is loaded into the editor with all your formatting intact.
- Personalise any details for this client and send.
For more on the full contract workflow, see Contracts.
Browsing and Filtering Templates
The Templates page gives you a few ways to find what you need:
- View by type -- Use the filter tabs to show All, Invoice, or Contract templates.
- Search -- Type a keyword into the search bar to filter by template name.
- Sort -- Templates are listed with the most recently updated first.
Tip: If you have a lot of templates, use the type filter first to narrow the list, then search within that type.
Editing a Template
- Go to Templates and find the template you want to update.
- Click on it to open the editor.
- Make your changes and click Save.
Editing a template does not affect any invoices or contracts you have already created from it. Those documents keep the content they had at the time you created them.
Deleting a Template
- Go to Templates and find the template you want to remove.
- Open the template and click Delete, or use the actions menu on the list page.
- Confirm the deletion.
Deleting a template is permanent. It does not delete any documents that were previously created from it.
Tip: If you are not sure whether you still need a template, consider renaming it with an "[Archived]" prefix instead of deleting it outright.
