Viewing Galleries

Your photographer uses Seleckt to share photo galleries with you. This guide walks you through how to access and browse them.

There are two ways to open a gallery:

From Your Portal

  1. Log in to your client portal.
  2. Click Galleries in the sidebar.
  3. You'll see a list of all galleries your photographer has shared with you.
  4. Click on a gallery to open it.

Your photographer may also send you a direct link to a specific gallery (via email, text, or WhatsApp). Simply click the link and it will take you straight to the gallery.

Tip: If you received a direct link but haven't created your account yet, you may be prompted to sign up first. Don't worry -- the gallery will be waiting for you once you're in.

Entering a PIN

Some galleries are PIN-protected for extra privacy. If your photographer has set a PIN on a gallery:

  1. You'll see a PIN entry screen when you open the gallery.
  2. Enter the PIN your photographer provided (check your email or messages).
  3. Click Enter to access the gallery.

The PIN is typically shared with you in the same message as the gallery link. If you can't find it, reach out to your photographer and they'll resend it.

Browsing Photos

Once you're inside a gallery, you'll see a grid of photo thumbnails. Here's how to navigate:

  1. Scroll down to see more photos. Galleries can contain dozens or even hundreds of images.
  2. Photos load progressively, so larger galleries may take a moment to fully populate.
  3. The gallery header shows the gallery name, a description (if your photographer added one), and the total number of photos.

Tip: Take your time browsing. There's no rush -- your gallery will stay available for as long as your photographer keeps it active.

Your photographer can choose from different gallery templates that affect how your photos are displayed. You might notice different layouts across galleries:

  • Grid layouts show photos as uniform thumbnails in rows and columns
  • Masonry layouts arrange photos in a more organic, Pinterest-style flow
  • Full-width layouts give each photo more room to breathe

The layout is chosen by your photographer to best suit the type of shoot. Whichever template they pick, you'll always be able to view and interact with every photo.

Using the Lightbox

To view an individual photo in detail:

  1. Click on any photo in the gallery grid.
  2. The photo opens in a lightbox -- a full-screen overlay that lets you see the image up close.
  3. Use the left and right arrows (or your keyboard arrow keys) to move between photos.
  4. Click the X button or press Escape to close the lightbox and return to the gallery grid.

The lightbox is the best way to appreciate each photo at a larger size. It's especially useful when you're selecting your favourites and want to compare shots side by side.

Tip: On a phone or tablet, you can swipe left and right to navigate between photos in the lightbox.

Favourites

You can mark photos you love with a heart icon. Favourites are available in all galleries, even those that don't have a formal selection workflow.

  • Long-press a photo in the grid (or tap the heart icon in the lightbox) to mark it as a favourite.
  • A filled heart appears on favourited photos so you can spot them at a glance.
  • Use the Favourites filter at the top of the gallery to show only your favourited photos. On a phone, tap the filter button (it shows the current filter, e.g. All) and pick Favourites.
  • If downloads are available, you can download just your favourites as a group — look for the Download Favourites option in the download menu.

Favourites are saved automatically, so you can close the gallery and come back later without losing your picks.

Tip: In viewing galleries (where there is no selection workflow), favourites are the main way to flag the photos you love. Your photographer can see which photos you favourited.

Comments

If your photographer has enabled comments on a gallery, you can leave feedback on individual photos:

  1. Open a photo in the lightbox.
  2. Click the comment icon to open the comments panel.
  3. Type your message and click Send.
  4. You can reply to existing comments to create a thread, or add emoji reactions.

Your comments are private -- only you and your photographer can see them. Other clients with access to the same gallery cannot see your comments.

Tip: Comments are a great way to tell your photographer which photos you love, suggest edits, or ask questions about specific shots.

Some galleries have an expiry date set by your photographer. If a gallery is approaching its expiry, you'll see a notice at the top of the gallery. Make sure to:

If a gallery has expired and you still need access, contact your photographer -- they can extend the gallery for you.
