Contracts

Contracts in Seleckt let you create professional agreements, send them to your clients for e-signature, and keep a complete audit trail -- all without leaving the platform. Contracts are a Plus+ feature.

Creating a Contract

  1. Go to Contracts in the sidebar and click New Contract.
  2. Give your contract a title (for example, "Wedding Photography Agreement").
  3. Choose the client this contract is for. You can also attach an optional gallery if the contract relates to a specific shoot.
  4. Write or paste your contract terms into the rich text editor.

The editor supports the formatting you would expect from a word processor:

  • Bold, italic, and strikethrough text
  • Headings (H1 through H3)
  • Bulleted and numbered lists
  • Text alignment (left, centre, right)

Tip: If you write the same contract language over and over, save it as a template first. See Templates to learn how.

Using a Template

Instead of starting from a blank page, you can load a saved contract template:

  1. On the new contract screen, click Use Template.
  2. Pick a template from the list.
  3. The editor fills in with the template content. Edit anything you need to personalise it for this client.

Contracts and jobs

A contract is filed into a Job when it is created, so the signed agreement sits alongside the quote, bookings and invoices for the same work. The Job panel on the contract page links to them, and Add to job files an unfiled contract into an existing job.

Sending a Contract

When your contract is ready:

  1. Review the content one last time.
  2. Click Send. The contract status changes from Draft to Sent.
  3. Your client receives an email with a link to review and sign the contract.

Tip: You can preview exactly what your client will see before sending. This is a good habit to catch any last-minute typos.

Contract Statuses

Every contract moves through a clear lifecycle:

Status What It Means
Draft You are still editing. The client has not seen it yet.
Sent The contract has been emailed to the client.
Viewed The client opened the contract link.
Signed The client signed. You are all set.
Declined The client declined to sign.
Expired A status label that can be applied to retire a contract.

Note: Contracts do not expire automatically. There is no expiry date, and Seleckt never moves a contract to Expired on its own.

You can see the current status of every contract from the Contracts list page, and filter or sort by status to stay on top of things.

E-Signature Flow

When your client opens the contract link, here is what happens on their end:

  1. They review the full contract text.
  2. They draw their signature on a canvas-based signature pad (works on desktop and mobile).
  3. They confirm and submit.

Seleckt automatically captures the IP address and timestamp at the moment of signing, so you have a verifiable record of when and where the signature took place.

Once signed, both you and your client receive a confirmation, and the contract status updates to Signed.

Comments

Both you and your client can leave comments on a contract. This is useful when:

  • Your client has a question about a specific clause.
  • You need to clarify terms before the client signs.
  • You want to keep a written record of any discussion about the agreement.

Comments appear in a threaded timeline alongside the contract, so the full conversation is always in context.

Version History

Every time you edit and save a contract, Seleckt keeps a version history. You can look back at previous versions to see what changed and when. This is especially helpful if you need to prove what terms were in place at the time of signing.

Downloading the Signed PDF

After a contract is signed:

  1. Open the contract from your Contracts list.
  2. Click Download PDF.
  3. You get a professional PDF that includes the contract text, the client's signature, and the signing metadata (IP address and timestamp).

Your client can also download their own copy from the Client Portal.

Activity Timeline

Each contract has its own activity timeline that logs every event:

  • When the contract was created
  • When it was sent
  • When the client viewed it
  • When comments were added
  • When it was signed or declined

This gives you a complete audit trail without having to dig through emails. You can also see contract-related events in the global Activity Log.
