Signing Contracts
Your photographer may ask you to sign a contract before a shoot or project begins. Seleckt makes this simple -- you can read, sign, and return contracts digitally, all from your browser.
Receiving a Contract
When your photographer sends you a contract:
- You'll receive an email notification with a link to the contract.
- The contract also appears in the Contracts section of your client portal.
- Click the link in the email or go to Contracts in your sidebar to view it.
Viewing the Contract
When you open a contract, you'll see the full document your photographer has prepared. This typically includes:
- The scope of work (what your photographer will deliver)
- Pricing and payment terms
- Cancellation and rescheduling policies
- Usage rights (how the photos may be used)
- Any other terms and conditions
Take your time to read through the entire contract carefully. Scroll down to see all sections.
Tip: If anything in the contract is unclear or you'd like something changed, reach out to your photographer before signing. They can update the contract and resend it.
Signing the Contract
Once you've read the contract and you're ready to agree:
- Scroll to the signature section at the bottom of the contract.
- You'll see a signature pad -- a blank area where you draw your signature.
- Use your mouse, trackpad, or finger (on a touchscreen) to draw your signature.
- If you're not happy with it, click Clear and try again.
- Once your signature looks good, click Sign Contract.
- You'll see a confirmation prompt. Click Confirm to submit your signature.
That's it -- the contract is signed!
Tip: On a phone or tablet, use your finger to sign on the signature pad. It often feels more natural than using a mouse, and the result looks more like your real signature.
What Happens After Signing
Once you've signed:
- The contract status changes to Signed in your portal.
- Both you and your photographer receive a copy of the signed contract.
- Your photographer is notified that you've signed.
- You can return to the contract at any time to view the signed version, including your signature and the date it was signed.
The signed contract is stored securely in Seleckt for both parties to reference.
Declining a Contract
If you're not comfortable signing the contract as-is:
- Open the contract.
- Click the Decline button.
- You can optionally include a reason to let your photographer know what you'd like changed.
- Click Confirm to submit.
Your photographer will be notified. Declining doesn't end the relationship -- it simply lets your photographer know that the current terms need revisiting. They can revise and send a new version.
Adding Comments
If you have questions or want to discuss parts of the contract:
- Open the contract.
- Scroll to the Comments section.
- Type your message and click Send.
- Your photographer will see your comment and can reply directly.
This keeps the conversation connected to the contract, making it easy to reference later.
Tip: Use comments to ask about specific clauses before you sign. It's always better to clarify upfront than to have questions after the fact.
