Build a pricing catalog for quick quoting and invoicing

Products

Your product catalogue is a library of the services and items you offer. Once you set it up, you can pull products into quotes and invoices with a single click instead of typing out descriptions and prices from memory every time.

Why use a product catalogue

Without a catalogue, every quote and invoice starts from scratch. You have to remember your pricing, type out descriptions, and hope you are consistent. With a catalogue:

  • Speed — adding a line item takes one click.
  • Consistency — every client sees the same description and pricing.
  • Accuracy — no more typos or forgotten charges.
  • Professionalism — detailed, well-written line items make a strong impression.

Tip: Spending 20 minutes setting up your catalogue now saves hours over the course of a busy season. It is one of the most impactful things you can do when getting started with Seleckt.

Product types

Seleckt supports three types of products, each designed for a different purpose:

Items

Individual services or physical products. These are the building blocks of your pricing.

Examples:

  • Portrait session — 1 hour
  • Extra hour of coverage
  • USB drive with all photos
  • Print (8x10)
  • Travel fee

Packages

Bundled offerings that combine multiple items into a single line. Packages are the most common way to present wedding and event pricing.

Examples:

  • Wedding Silver Package — 6 hours coverage, 200 edited photos, online gallery
  • Wedding Gold Package — 10 hours coverage, 500 edited photos, online gallery, album
  • Family Portrait Package — 1 hour session, 20 edited photos, 5 prints

Add-ons

Optional extras that complement a package or standalone booking. When you add these to a quote, clients can see what additional services are available.

Examples:

  • Engagement shoot
  • Second photographer
  • Same-day slideshow
  • Extra album copy
  • Rush editing (48-hour delivery)

Creating a product

  1. Go to Products in the sidebar.
  2. Click New Product.
  3. Fill in the product details:
Field Description
Name A clear, client-friendly name (e.g., "Wedding Gold Package").
Type Choose Item, Package, or Add-on.
Description A detailed explanation of what is included. This appears on quotes and invoices.
Price Your standard price for this product. You can adjust it on individual quotes and invoices.
Category An optional grouping tag (e.g., "Weddings", "Portraits", "Prints") to help you organise your catalogue.
  1. Click Save.

The product is now available to add to any quote or invoice.

Tip: Write descriptions as if the client is reading them. Instead of "WP-Gold", write "Wedding Gold Package — full-day coverage (up to 10 hours), 500+ professionally edited photos delivered via online gallery, premium lay-flat album (30 pages)." The more detail, the fewer questions.

Using products in quotes and invoices

When you are building a quote or invoice:

  1. Click Add Item (or Add Package / Add Add-on).
  2. A product picker appears showing your catalogue, organised by type.
  3. Search or browse to find the product you want.
  4. Click to add it. The name, description, and price are pre-filled.
  5. Adjust the quantity or price if needed for this specific client.

Changes you make on a quote or invoice do not update the catalogue product — they only apply to that document. Your catalogue stays clean.

Importing products

If you already have a pricing list in a spreadsheet, you can import it rather than creating products one by one. Imports use an Excel (.xlsx) workbook only — CSV files are not supported. The workbook holds your products and your package contents on separate sheets rather than in one flat table.

  1. Go to Products.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Upload an .xlsx workbook (up to 5 MB, maximum 500 rows across all sheets). The product type is taken from the sheet name — put your products on the matching sheet:
Sheet Holds
Items Individual items.
Packages Packages, plus the line items inside each package (each item row references its package).
Add-ons Add-ons.

On every sheet, a row provides the product's name, price, and optional description and category. On the Packages sheet, a row that names a parent package is treated as one of that package's line items.

  1. Review the client-side preview to confirm everything looks correct. Validation errors are highlighted inline.
  2. Click Import.

Products are created immediately. Duplicates (same name and type) are flagged so you can decide whether to skip or update them. Sort order is determined automatically by the row position in your file — products of the same type are ordered as they appear.

Tip: Click Download Template on the import dialog to get a pre-formatted Excel workbook with the correct sheets, column headers, and an instructions sheet. Fill it in and upload it back.

Search and filter

As your catalogue grows, use the search bar and filters to find what you need:

  • Search — type part of a product name or description.
  • Filter by type — show only items, packages, or add-ons.
  • Filter by category — show only products in a specific category.

Duplicating a product

If you want to create a product that is similar to an existing one:

  1. Find the product in your catalogue.
  2. Click the three-dot menu on the product row.
  3. Select Duplicate.
  4. A new product is created with all the same details, prefixed with "Copy of".
  5. Edit the name, price, or description as needed and save.

This is faster than starting from scratch, especially for packages with slight variations (e.g., a Silver vs Gold package).

Editing and deleting products

Editing

  1. Click on a product to open it.
  2. Make your changes.
  3. Click Save.

Editing a product updates the catalogue entry. Quotes and invoices that already used the old version are not affected — they keep the values that were set when they were created.

Deleting

  1. Click the three-dot menu on the product row.
  2. Select Delete.
  3. Confirm.

Deleted products are removed from the catalogue. Existing quotes and invoices that reference the product are not affected — those line items remain intact.

Organising with categories

Categories help you group related products together. Some suggested categories:

  • Weddings — all wedding-related packages, items, and add-ons.
  • Portraits — family, individual, and corporate portrait offerings.
  • Events — conferences, parties, corporate events.
  • Prints & Products — physical items like prints, albums, and USB drives.
  • Travel — travel fees, accommodation, mileage.

You can create any category names you like. They are simply text labels — there is no limit to how many you can have.
