Invoices & Payments
Your photographer uses Seleckt to send you invoices, and you can pay them securely online without leaving the portal. This guide covers everything from viewing an invoice to making a payment.
Viewing Your Invoices
- Log in to your client portal.
- Click Invoices in the sidebar.
- You'll see a list of all invoices from your photographer, showing the invoice number, date, amount, and status (e.g., Pending, Paid, Overdue).
- Click on any invoice to see the full details.
You'll also receive an email notification when your photographer sends a new invoice, with a link that takes you directly to it.
Your photographer may invoice the work on one quote in parts -- for example the session first and the album later. You then receive a separate invoice for each part, each listing the items it covers, and together they cover the quote you accepted. The last one may include a small Rounding adjustment line so the parts add up to the cent.
Understanding Invoice Details
When you open an invoice, you'll see a clear breakdown of everything:
- Line items: Each service or product your photographer is billing for (e.g., "Wedding Photography -- 8 hours", "10 Edited Prints")
- Quantity and unit price: How many of each item and the cost per unit
- Subtotal: The total before tax and discounts
- Tax: Any applicable tax (e.g., SST) added by your photographer
- Discount: If your photographer has applied a discount, it's shown here
- Total: The final amount due
- Due date: When payment is expected
- Notes: Any additional details your photographer has included
Tip: If something on the invoice doesn't look right, contact your photographer directly. They can update the invoice and resend it.
Making a Payment
Paying an invoice is quick and secure:
- Open the invoice you'd like to pay.
- Click the Pay Now button.
- You'll be taken to a secure payment form powered by Stripe.
- Enter your credit or debit card details.
- Review the amount and click Pay.
- You'll see a payment confirmation on screen once the transaction completes.
The entire payment process is handled by Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment processors. Seleckt never sees or stores your card details.
Tip: Keep an eye on the due date shown on your invoice. Paying on time helps your photographer plan their work and keeps your project moving smoothly.
Paying for a booking
A booking page in your portal has its own Payment card. While you are reserving a date, the deposit is paid right there. Once your booking is confirmed and your photographer has sent you an invoice for it, that invoice is where you pay: the card shows the invoice's balance and a Pay invoice button that takes you to it. When the work is invoiced in parts, the button takes you to the part that is due: once one part is paid, it moves on to the next one your photographer has sent you. Anything you already paid on the booking is credited on the invoice, so you are never asked for it twice — and while your photographer is still updating that credit, or a card payment of yours is still being held, the booking page keeps showing your booking payments instead, or the part you have already paid as Paid in full. If you still have an old booking payment page open in another tab, it will tell you the booking is now paid through the invoice.
Payment Confirmation
After a successful payment:
- The invoice status changes to Paid in your portal.
- You'll receive a confirmation email with a receipt.
- Your photographer is notified that you've paid.
You can always go back to the invoice in your portal to view or download the receipt.
Viewing Payment History
To see all your past payments:
- Go to Invoices in the sidebar.
- Filter by Paid status to see only completed invoices.
- Click any paid invoice to see the payment details, including the date paid and the payment method used.
Payment-Gated Downloads
In some cases, your photographer may set up payment gating on your photos. This means:
- You can browse and view your gallery at any time.
- High-resolution downloads are only available after you've paid the associated invoice.
Once payment is confirmed, the download links are unlocked automatically. Head over to the Downloads section to grab your photos.
Tip: If you've paid an invoice but downloads still appear locked, try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, let your photographer know.
