Billing
The billing page is where you subscribe to a plan, apply coupon codes, and manage your existing subscription. Go to Settings > Billing to get started.
Viewing Your Current Plan
At the top of the billing page, the Current Plan card shows:
- Your current plan -- the name of the plan you are on (Free, Plus, Pro, Studio, or Enterprise)
- Status -- your subscription status (for example, active, trialing, or past due)
- Next billing date -- when your next payment is due (or, if you have cancelled, when your access ends)
If your plan came from an invite or coupon code, a badge shows the source and any expiry date.
This gives you a quick snapshot of where you stand without having to dig through emails or receipts.
Subscribing to a Plan
The Plans section shows a grid of available plans, each with its price and included features:
- Go to Settings > Billing.
- Use the Monthly / Annual toggle to choose your billing cycle. Annual billing shows a Save 20% badge.
- Find the plan you want and click Subscribe.
- You are taken to Stripe Checkout to enter your payment details and confirm.
Once your payment is confirmed, your plan is activated automatically and the page updates to show your new tier.
Tip: Not sure which plan is right for you? Check the detailed comparison at Plans & Pricing to see exactly what is included in each tier.
Applying a Coupon Code
If you have a coupon or promotional code, you can redeem it from the Have a coupon code? card:
- Go to Settings > Billing.
- Enter your code in the field under Have a coupon code?.
- Click Apply.
A confirmation appears when the code is applied, and any benefits it unlocks (such as a tier upgrade, storage bonus, or feature unlock) show up in the Active Benefits card.
Managing Your Subscription
Once you have an active subscription, the Current Plan card includes a Manage Billing button. This opens the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can:
- Change or cancel your plan
- Update your payment method
- View and download your billing and invoice history
Seleckt uses Stripe to process subscription payments securely. Your card details are handled by Stripe and never stored on Seleckt's servers.
Tip: If you are a sole trader or small business, the invoice history in the Stripe Customer Portal is a handy reference when filing taxes. Download your receipts at the end of each financial year.
If a payment fails
If Stripe cannot collect a payment, your subscription is marked past due and a warning banner appears on the billing page. Stripe retries the charge automatically over the following weeks, and you receive an email notification. Use the Update payment method button on the banner (which opens the Stripe Customer Portal) to fix your card details before the next retry. If the payment still cannot be collected, your subscription is cancelled and your account reverts to the Free plan.
Cancelling Your Subscription
To cancel, click Manage Billing on the Current Plan card and cancel from within the Stripe Customer Portal. Your plan features remain active until the end of your current billing period.
When a normal Stripe subscription ends (whether you cancel it or a payment ultimately fails), your account reverts to the Free tier. Free-plan defaults are restored — for example, custom branding such as your logo and brand colour is reset, since branding is a paid feature. A normal cancellation or downgrade does not come with a grace period.
Grace Period (Invite & Coupon Benefits)
A 30-day grace period applies in one specific case: when a plan upgrade you received from an admin grant or a coupon/invite code expires. It does not apply to ordinary subscription cancellations or downgrades.
When such a benefit expires and you have galleries over the Free-plan limit, Seleckt gives you a 30-day grace period before removing the excess, with a warning banner on the billing page:
- Day 15 -- A reminder email is sent, partway through the grace period, listing how many galleries are at risk.
- Day 25 -- A final warning email is sent, naming the specific galleries that will be deleted.
- Day 30 -- The grace period ends. Galleries that exceed your Free-plan limit are permanently deleted.
During the grace period, you can subscribe to a paid plan at any time to keep all your galleries. If you upgrade before the grace period ends, nothing is deleted.
Tip: If cost is a concern, consider switching to annual billing, which saves 20% compared to paying monthly. You can change your billing cycle in the Stripe Customer Portal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?
Yes. When you first subscribe, use the Monthly / Annual toggle on the Billing page before clicking Subscribe. To change the billing cycle on an existing subscription, open the Stripe Customer Portal via Manage Billing.
What happens if my payment fails?
Stripe retries failed payments automatically over the following weeks, and you receive email notifications. Your subscription is marked past due in the meantime. If the payment still cannot be collected, your subscription is cancelled and your account reverts to the Free tier (with Free-plan defaults restored).
Do I get a refund if I downgrade or cancel mid-cycle?
Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your current plan until then, so there is nothing to refund. Plan changes and cancellations are handled in the Stripe Customer Portal.
