Setting Up Your Account

Configure your profile, branding, watermark, and payment settings

Setting Up Your Account

Before you start sharing galleries and sending invoices, take a few minutes to set up your account. This guide covers your profile, branding, watermark, and payment settings — everything you need to present a polished, professional experience to your clients.

Complete Your Profile

Your profile information appears on invoices, contracts, and your client-facing portal. Keeping it up to date helps clients know who they are working with.

  1. Click your avatar or initials in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
  2. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
  3. On the Profile tab, fill in or update:
    • Name — Your full name as you want it displayed to clients.
    • Business Name — Your photography business name. This appears on invoices and contracts.
    • WhatsApp Number — A phone number where clients can reach you. This is optional.
    • Website URL — A link to your portfolio or website.
    • Bio — A short description of your work. Keep it to a sentence or two.
    • City and Country — Your location.
    • Specialties — Tags for your photography specialties (e.g., wedding, portrait, commercial).
    • Social Links — Links to your Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, or Twitter profiles.
  4. Click Save Changes.

Tip: Clients see your business name and profile picture on shared galleries and the client portal. A clear, professional photo and accurate business name go a long way.

Upload a Profile Picture

  1. On the Profile tab in Settings, click the avatar placeholder or your current photo.
  2. Select an image from your computer. JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats are accepted.
  3. The image uploads and is displayed immediately.

Set Up Your Branding

Branding settings let you customize the look of galleries, invoices, and emails your clients see.

  1. Go to Settings and select the Branding tab.
  2. Configure the following:
    • Brand Color — Pick a color that matches your brand identity. This color is used as an accent throughout your client-facing pages and in email notifications. Click the color swatch to open the color picker, or type in a hex code directly.
    • Logo — Upload your business logo. This appears on invoices, contracts, and PDF exports. Supported formats are PNG and JPEG (a transparent PNG works best), sized at least 200px on the longest edge.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Tip: If you do not have a brand color in mind, try using the dominant color from your logo. It creates a consistent look without much effort.

Configure Your Default Watermark

Watermarking is optional and turned off by default. When you choose to enable it, Seleckt applies your watermark to photos in your galleries — protecting your work while still letting clients browse and make selections.

  1. Go to Settings and select the Watermark tab.
  2. Toggle the watermark on to enable it.
  3. Choose a watermark type:
    • Text — Enter up to 100 characters of text. Your business name works well here.
    • Logo — Upload an image to use as your watermark. PNG with a transparent background works best. Supported formats: PNG, JPEG, WebP.
  4. Adjust the watermark settings:
    • Position — Choose where the watermark appears on your photos:
      • Center — Placed in the middle of the image.
      • Diagonal — Tiled diagonally across the image for maximum coverage.
      • Bottom-right — A subtle placement in the lower-right corner.
    • Opacity — Control how visible the watermark is. The slider ranges from 20% (faint) to 60% (prominent). A value around 30% is a good starting point.
    • Size — Adjust the relative size of the watermark from 0.25x to 1.5x.
  5. Click Save Changes.

The watermark settings you configure here become the default for all new galleries. You can override these settings on a per-gallery basis if needed.

Tip: Use the Diagonal position with low opacity for proofing galleries. It protects your images without distracting from the photos. For final delivery galleries, you can turn the watermark off entirely.

Set Up Currency and Tax

  1. Go to Settings and select the Profile tab.
  2. Set your Currency — This is the default currency used on new invoices and quotes (e.g., MYR, USD, SGD).
  3. Optionally set a Default Tax Rate — If you charge sales tax or GST, enter the percentage here (0-100). This rate is applied automatically to new invoices and quotes.
  4. If applicable, enter your Tax Registration Number for display on invoices.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Connect Stripe for Payments

Stripe is the payment processor Seleckt uses to accept online payments from your clients. Connecting your Stripe account lets clients pay invoices directly through the links you send them. The money goes straight to your Stripe account.

  1. Go to Settings and select the Payments tab.
  2. Click Set Up Stripe.
  3. You will be redirected to Stripe's website. If you already have a Stripe account, sign in. If not, Stripe will walk you through creating one.
  4. Follow Stripe's onboarding steps:
    • Verify your identity.
    • Enter your bank account details for payouts.
    • Confirm your business information.
  5. Once complete, you are redirected back to Seleckt. Your Payments tab will show a green Connected status.

Tip: Stripe onboarding usually takes 5-10 minutes. Have your bank account details and a form of ID ready before you start. You only need to do this once.

After Stripe is connected, any invoice you send will include a Pay Now button that lets clients pay by credit card, debit card, or other payment methods supported in your region.

Review Your Settings Checklist

Here is a quick checklist to make sure your account is fully set up:

  • Profile name and business name filled in
  • Profile picture uploaded
  • Brand color chosen
  • Logo uploaded
  • Default watermark configured
  • Currency and tax rate set

You do not need to complete everything at once. You can always come back to Settings and update these later.
